Electric car manufacturer Tesla has said that self-driving cars could be a reality within the next three years, with the firm targeting a computer-guided version of its Model S saloon. Tesla chief executive officer Elon Musk said in an interview with the Financial Times that the autonomous driving technology would act like “an autopilot” that could be switched on and off like an aeroplane’s guidance system. Munich hopes that this will conquer new mini-MPV territory: the BMW 2-series Active Tourer. It’s the production version of the BWW Concept Active Tourer we first saw back in 2011, and the undisguised version of the car we scooped earlier in 2013. The name will be 'Active Tourer'-suffixed, not '2-series GT' as previously thought. The purists might shout loudly, but money talks, and there’s huge demand for a BMW-badged family car at more mainstream prices.

The new MK 7 Volkswagen Golf went on sale in the UK at the end of 2012, but VW are already tinkering with the lineup with the arrival of the new Volkswagen Golf Match, replacing the current Golf SE. Priced from £19,680 for the Golf Match 1.4 litre three-door, the new Match comes with a set of 16″ Dover alloys, but it’s the extra kit for no extra money that makes the new Match appealing. Additional equipment on the Match includes front and rear parking sensors, fogs, mirror pack with automatically folding door mirrors with puddle lights and reverse dip.
